The Epic Poem of Beowulf was written during the Anglo-Saxon period. Throughout the poem, it showed three main universal themes. One being loyalty and self-sacrifice as admirable traits. This theme is reflected in today’s society. It continues to be shown through books, careers, and films. An example, would be the film Fantastic Four. It shows loyalty and self-sacrifice of the four members, by how they sacrifice their normal lives to turn themselves into superheroes to help their city overcome evil. They show loyalty by putting themselves before any other person, whether it being any other member or civilian.
