Even though he didn’t use his staff’s suggestion sometimes, Lincoln would still listen to his staff and they would feel like they contributed one way or another. This happened by Lincoln handling his staff with care and understanding. The last way is that Lincoln would set goals for his generals and staff. Lincoln would not issue orders but he would suggest, imply or make suggestions. Instead of telling them what to do, he would ask them what they should do. These ways and styles would developed Lincoln to a better leader and handle his staff and general in a decent and effective way.
In my opinion, I agree with Lincoln’s style. Lincoln listened and cared to his people and not avoid them. He also took full responsibility for not only his mistakes and actions, but also his staff’s mistakes.
