Hazardous waste and the proper use of disposing waste products have become a major sociological and economical problem today due to its ongoing issue of contaminating the area in which we live and it’s potential to be fatal to all living things. In order for the United States and the rest of the world to save itself from a deadly life threatening problem they must work to fix the issues which lead to the improper disposal of hazardous wastes and like-minded materials. Some reasons that hazardous waste has become a problem in the United States today is due to the breakdown in enforcing laws for the proper disposal of such wastes, a lack of initiative that is being portrayed on big time companies behalf to spend money on proper disposal, and the ease of disposing of such wastes illegally.
The US produces 11 billion tons of solid waste per year • Most of this waste is from agriculture. A 1/3 is from mining operations and metal processing. Another portion is from industry other than mining. The rest is municipal waste. Nearly 2/3 of a ton for each man, woman and child per year in the US alone. The waste stream is a term used to describe the mixture of everything that we throw away. Most waste can be recycled or reused.
