Gilgamesh : The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay
Through the journey to kill Humbaba, The Epic of Gilgamesh ocupates the idea that wanting glory and fame only makes people do things carelessly as the setting took place in the early urban civilization of ancient Babylonia similar to Noah in his story. Gilgamesh is not the best ruler at first, he has many women at once, he parties constantly, and is forgetting what a ruler needs to do. “The walls go unattended and decay, and left his people dreaming of the past and longing for a change” (Mason 16).
As for the extent and causes of the flood in both stories they both are very similar. In the two stories the flood was caused from man’s wickedness and was spread world wide. In The Epic of Gilgamesh it was the gods who caused it unlike in the story of Noah where it was a call from the one true God.
