In chapter 2 we learned about politics and the political system. We learned that while having a government is important to keep our society organized, it is considered more of a necessary evil. At times states use the government as an excuse to exert its power and overstep its boundaries through the use of violence. Chapter 2 also explains the different types of government that exists. While different democracies have their faults when compared to some of the other types of governments; we should truly be thankful for all the freedom and rights we have. From chapter 2, One of the things I found interesting was why some positions in the service industry are excluded from minimum wage. When it comes to participating in politics, most people just vote and leave it at that and this is due to people not being knowable about our political system. Not only they should encourage people to vote, they should also encourage people to actually learn about their state representatives and when they do something wrong give people instructions as to how they can hold their state representatives responsible. The government should also create programs that can help citizens become aware of their rights. While I know this would work against the government since if people are more educated about their rights they can’t be exploited. However, for a functioning democracy, people need to fully know their rights. Also, the government should enact programs for people that teaches political equality. Time after time, people of colors get the short end of the stick. In education, in the workplace, in the justice system and so on. If people are more aware of the fact that there is a problem and are educated, we can eventually work toward solving this
