While equipment has changed over time what changes were made and how? First is what pulled the equipment in the 1800’s- horses did. Whether it was transportation or entertainment, they were there. Almost every farmer had a horse or was going to get one very quickly. With a horse, all activities that needed to be done got done.

Such as a small hydraulic hose break could cost you a week and 100 dollars. Not only are the repairs not cheap they can break at any time. With that break it takes a day to diagnose the problem and then a week for the part to ship. So there are many goods and bads for both but tractors are a little better than horses.
While weather may not seem like it has changed a lot it has. Maybe the pattern of the weather has not changed but storms that occur have. In the 1800’s while the sand was being ripped up sand storms started. There was nothing to hold the sod it together so it starting getting in the air. Therefore starting dust storms. Witch started to get worse. As more land was ripped up more sand got into the air. Therefore the weather pattern consisted of a lot of sandstorms. This went on for awhile until people realized what is going on. But until that happened people planned on dust bowls.
While in the west now there may be no more dust storms but storms that blow through now are very
