    Farming in the wild west compared to today has undergone a lot of major differences. A few differences are weather, equipment, and prices of cattle and crop. These three categories differ, but in some ways, can be very close. While the three may seem very distant from each other there are many areas where they can be connected. While equipment has changed over time what changes were made and how? First is what pulled the equipment in the 1800’s- horses did. Whether it was transportation or entertainment, they were there. Almost every farmer had a horse or was going to get one very quickly. With a horse, all activities that needed to be done got done. A horse pulling a plow followed by a person Although that sounded good it wasn’t exactly efficient. A horse is just like a human: it needs rest, food, water, and shoes. So with a few hours taken out of the day, just preparing your horse for the day. Then your horse can be hurt or sick and then there is nothing that can be done. Waiting is the only solution and during harvest time that could be a terrible to lose a lot of money. Horses may not have been efficient but there were cases that they came very handy. Say you needed to up and go they didn’t have to warm up like a car they just run. Not only a quick startup they could also be a great companion. They have feelings and can have just as much fun with you as a dog. There were upsides and downsides to horses but there still are for tractors too. Tractors…
