The Fake Drug Industry is exploding, and we can’t do anything about it

The article on fake drugs around the world highlights how these fakes are able to propagate rapidly in the market and the harsh consequences they have on society.
The fake acts a teacher where it informs us how society is intolerable towards falsified drugs and feels strongly against them. It is stated that “the community leaders were distraught” when they realized a young man from their village died due to fake drugs. It provokes a strong reaction to the extent that they went on to “publicly burn all” of the Artesunate found in local pharmacies, indicating how strongly they condemn the existence of fake drugs in their community. Furthermore, it highlights what the people value; high quality medicines that are able to cure and are able to maintain the trust of the patients. Since fake drugs are incapable of meeting what people value and expect out of drugs, there is a misrepresentation of abilities of such drugs. The propagation of fake drugs is also a dire problem as the stakes are high; as these “life-threatening poisons” are causing thousands of preventable deaths globally, such as 8000 patients who lost their lives in a “remote Himalayan hospital as an antibiotic had no active ingredient to prevent infection after a surgery”. …show more content…
With various “tragic incidents” occurring due to the usage of fake drugs, such as the “poor quality tuberculosis drug that killed 100 lives in Lahore”, the quality and standard of drugs being used in the industry is questioned and are viewed as “murderers as they are causing
