Each character has a different impact in this short story. Bailey is the grandmother’s only son. He lives with his wife, his three kids, and his mother. Bailey gets annoyed by what his mother says sometimes. We see this at the beginning when he seems to ignore her about The Misfit going toward Florida. He has a conversation with the grandmother and says “A good man is hard to find.” He believes it is hard to find trustworthy people anymore, the grandmother agrees with him. The grandmother calls Red Sammy a good man. He seems to enjoy the conversation with the grandmother. I believe he is supposed to represent what a good man is. Red Sammy’s wife is the waitress at the restaurant. She has a small conversation with the family and jokes with Red Sammy about The Misfit coming to steal the two cents they have in the cash
