Eating disorder has been a major problem among Americans these days. It has been a common issue in almost every household. Eating disorder is a mental illness in which people tend to eat either excessively or eat very little. Eating disorder has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Almost 24 million people suffer from this disease in America.
Eating disorder is evident by the picture brought forth by the facial expressions, item and setting. Eating Disorders have existed since a very long time. Nowadays it is considered a shame to be fat. Advertisements and tv commercials have a major role in influencing eating disorders among the young generations nowadays. Fashion Designers and producers prefer to take skinny models or actresses because they think they look more beautiful than those who are fat. Girls tend to lose weight or look skinny because they want to look like their favourite actress or model leading them to go on a diet developing eating disorders. It is their own choice to be thin and not the society’s choice now. People feel that they need to be thin in order to look cool in front of others. Due to increase in depression nowadays, binge eating disorder has also been increasing significantly leading people to become very fat and developing diseases. Anorexia Nervosa is most commonly seen in girls. Almost 1.5% girls develop Anorexia Nervosa in their lifetime. “Though no one can go back and make a new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new end.” –Carl Bard.
Even if one is having an eating disorder, one should not just regret it but try to overcome it. A person with Anorexia Nervosa should never think that he/she is not beautiful as beauty lies within the person not on the outside of it. Similarly a person with Binge Eating Disorder should try to overcome it by controlling himself/herself from excessive eating. Type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer are a major cause of binge eating. Everyone is capable of coming out of a certain eating disorder, it is never impossible. A person with binge eating disorder can overcome his/her problem by concentrating on having healthy food like salads and vegetables instead of having junk food. People with Anorexia Nervosa can overcome their problem by feeling good the way they are, nobody can judge a person by his/her looks. Personality matters, not looks.
