Dunbar’s call to adventure is him getting shot. He was reckless, suicide attempt. A glimpse at how he wants to be reborn. This pushes him on to further things later on in the movie. This part starts the whole journey.
His supernatural aid/mentor was the general sees Dunbar as special. He patches him up with his personal surgeon. Then he gifts Dunbar with a promotion, a post on the frontier, and Cisco.

Consists of trying to communicate with the indians and not dying. Both of these become easier the longer he’s exposed to the indian tribe.
His meeting with a goddess/temptress would be meeting Stands With A Fist. He quickly succumbs to her charm and beauty. She becomes a drive for him to do things.
Death of a mentor/father figure is expressed when Cisco and Two Socks die. They weren’t mentors per say, but they were important to Dunbar and affected him heavily. His two companions were killed.
Dunbar’s atonement is when he tells Kicking Bird that the white men are coming for the indians. At this point, Dunbar is more or less completely Indian.
The apotheosis is the war between the Sioux and the whites. Dunbar then embraces his name as Dances With Wolves. He completely incorporates himself into their culture and abandons the whites.
Ultimate boon for Dances With Wolves is marrying Stands With A Fist. He marries her after Kicking Bird tells Stands With A Fist that she is no longer in mourning and gives Dances With Wolves his blessing.

I believe that everyone has their own definition of what it means to be a true human being and what a true human being is. I believe that a true human being is one not possessed by wants and materialistic cravings. A true human being respects what is around them and is content with what they have. They do the right thing for the right reason. They do everything with good intentions. They aren’t perfect. There’s no such thing as a perfect human being. that’s why I’m talking about a true human being, not a perfect one.
I don’t see myself as a perfect human being. I find myself caught up in the materialistic wants that overcome most of us. It makes us feel inadequate when we compare ourselves to others who have more than we do. I do this and it definitely makes me not equal to a true human being. Often, I find myself doing the wrong thing for the wrong reasons. Or the right thing for wrong reasons and even the wrong thing for the right reason. I have also done many things with bad intentions. I am nowhere close to qualifying as a true human being, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I have no chance to ever be that way. There’s still hope in the future that I might one day be a true human
