They both had different meaning one was more personal with real emotions. Catherine Davis poem wasn’t deep nor did it have any kind of meaning to it. It has a simplistic feeling to it in its own way, the type of attitude that it portrayed “it is what it is” kind of feeling to it. She mentions “one more thing lost is one thing less to lose, ” she is implying that the lesser things that you have in life the minimal loss you experience in life.
