Kennedy’s (RFK) speech regarding Martin Luther King’s (MLK) death, he stood up against his advisors (authority figures) and delivered his speech on short notice, in order to help the African-American community of Indianapolis to cope with the loss of a civil rights leader. These rebellious acts are beneficial for the common good as well as the people of the community. Disobedience can assist people in progressing basic human rights, but also can act to remind them of their long-run goals, instead of only focusing on the current situations they are facing. In the film, the main protagonist Randle McMurphy (Mac), served time in a mental institution for refusal of basic societal norms. He’s assigned to the ward with Nurse Ratched, the main antagonist, where he quickly observes her tyrannical authority over the other patients on the ward. Mac watches as the patients, who are all voluntary, fall to the conformity of Nurse Ratched. Whether she was using her authority rationally or not, Mac was completely against her
