Sunny is a prostitute that Holden's elevator man introduced him to. Holden invites Sunny into the room and begins to ask her questions. Immediately off the bat Holden already decides that he has no interest in this woman. He then proceeds to say to her “If you want to know the truth, I'm a virgin. I really am. I've had quite a few opportunities to lose my virginity and all, but I've never got around to it yet.”(CHAPTER 13) This quote concludes that although Holden has been around plenty of girls where he has been given the opportunity to change their relationship into a more romantic one, he instead chooses to shut them out and push them away. Sunny begins to use crude humor with Holden, hoping to get him in the mood and take things further. In order to avoid the situation Holden continues to tell Sunny stories about himself. One in particular was about a fake operation that Holden would not stop talking about. This frustrated Sunny because she could not get his attention like she used to. Although Marquice told Holden the meeting with Sunny would only cost him five dollars, Sunny believed that she deserved more and asked for ten dollars instead. Since this wasn't a part of the original deal, Holden refused to give her the other five dollars. Sunny then went to go get Marquice and told him that she needed the rest of the money. Holden still would not pay up so
