In the two texts, they have a major theme of separation. In Frosts poem “Mending Wall”, his wall, that was torn to pieces practically, separated the narrator from the neighbor. The other text, “Tear Down This Wall”(Reagan), is slightly different. Reagan noted about the Berlin Wall, which separated the city Berlin, and separated freedom from totalitarianism. In Frosts text, the wall affect the neighbor and the narrator, and the wall makes the narrator think bad thoughts about his neighbor. The narrator really emphasizes of the ‘bad thoughts’ he thinks about the neighbor. In Reagans speech, the people of Berlin do not have freedom, and finally they keep people from getting resources. Say that the town that they live in, it is separated in two and one family, gets separated. How would they feel? How would they get resources? All these problems are something that would affect the people physically, and mentally. They have affects on people, as well as an effect on the country itself.
In Reagans speech, since it clearly shows how the Berlin Wall affects the country, it does. However in Frosts text it doesn’t say anything about it. Reagans speech focuses around the effect on the country. It also cut the country in half, and there is no access to resources. The resources is the most important factor, due to starvation, dehydration, etc. Nevertheless, there are also effects on the
