Although persecution is happening in many parts of the world, the Middle East is one of the most common places for it to occur. In the Middle East, Christians are starting to fear the rising groups of Islam. They are treated with hostility and incidents of torture. For example, twelve Christians were thrown off a ship sailing in the Mediterranean Sea by groups of Muslim migrants. In the Middle East, Christians are also losing their rights as humans because of their faith. Some Christians in Iraq are being offered to pay a fee to convert to Islam or be killed. Most Christians refuse this offer and stay true to their faith. This shows how devoted and strong Christians are to God because they would rather stay true to their religion and die than to convert to a religion they don’t believe in. One big group that is responsible for many Christian deaths is a terrorist group called ISIS. ISIS groups have taken many horrific videos of the beheadings of Christian hostages. Twenty-one Egyptian Christians were kidnapped by ISIS and killed. This is yet another example of terrorist acts preformed by ISIS. Most of these executions have been recorded and released to the public to create fear in society. As a result of these mass executions, the number of Christians in Iraq have decreased from 1.5 million twenty years ago to 300,000 million Christians today. This shows how ISIS and other terrorist groups impact the population of Christianity in Iraq. In some parts of the Middle East, Christians are given safe places to live. One example of this is the Gulf State. In the Gulf State, authorities protect Christians under strict law. They also allow Christian churches to double in size. Because of the laws protecting them in the Gulf State, congregations are growing and religion is abundant. Terrorists attacks against Christians in the Middle East are a serious problem because it is putting Christians
