The adolescence stage is like the rare Pencil Cactus pre-bloom, hidden in between bushes deep in the brush, and when it blooms it is something that cannot be overlooked. Actions as a kid are overlooked by the people who surround us, and up to a certain point “childhood” can no longer protect us from mistakes.Writer, Mary Shelley in her book, Frankenstein, reveals the struggles a creation faces after being abandoned by his creator and the monster’s search for companionship and the things he would do to get what he wants. Shelley’s purpose is to show the revengeful mind the creation takes on for being abandoned and how far revenege can take a person. She adopts a tone of awareness in order to show the events that could happen if someone does the wrong thing. The creature burns down the cottage of a family after being rejected and kills William for being related to his creator, however, the creature shows maturity when he asks Victor Frankenstein for a companion.

At that moment, the monster knows what he wants, and he will do anything to obtain his want. It is different to cry and whine over a toy that we want, but blackmailing and belittling the elder is extremely different. The creature thought and thought about this, and came to the conclusion that he will do anything to get what he wants. Ending his “adolescence” the creation takes on a new path, doing whatever it takes to get his way. However, this sounds like a child, but the actions taken to do this are not similar to a child. Thus, showing the maturity the creation is facing now. Revenge is no longer driven by only emotions, but also by the need for a companion. Now everything else is done as a statement, and the creation has a mind to know what he is doing. Future actions are no longer done by the overwhelming emotions, but with planned out events and the aim at a bigger goal than a
