Drizzt Do’Urden, a rogue drow elf that escaped the murderous, hedonistic lifestyle of the underground drow city of Menzoberranzan and the accompanying worship of Lolth, the spider goddess. Later on, he’d have to sacrifice his life and go on the run, knowing the consequences of his mother, Matron Malice, hunting him down. This, as a result, also resulted in the death of his father, who becomes a spirit-wraith to hunt Drizzt. Drizzt, also, has to part with many of his friends, such as his father, Zaknafein, a hook horror named Clacker, and a deep gnome named Belwar.
Drizzt also faces racism many times. In menzoberranzan, he has a slight advantage due to being a drow elf, but to the drow, all other races are either evil, malicious things filled with hatred who only want to kill drow, or worth nothing more than slaves. The former commonly applies for races like deep gnomes, dwarves, the elves of the surface, and humans, while the latter often applies for races such as orcs, goblins, and bugbears. This is one of the many things that disgust Drizzt to the point of leaving Menzoberranzan. Once he finally gets to the surface,
Drizzt has to face the opposite, being forced to live in the wilderness since none will take him in.
