Art Analysis: The Scream

“The Scream” I really like this painting because it has mystery and anxiety and to my innersole, it reflects a sense of how profound the feelings and thoughts of a person can be. In addition, the fact that the painting shows an individual screaming during a perfect sunset moment is what draws me to admire such bizarre piece of art. Even though it seems to be that it is a lovely evening for everyone, apparently it is not for such induvial. The subject screaming seems to be scared and perhaps confused about something. Hence, looking at this mysterious individual posing his hands on his face with his mouth wide open gives me the impression that he or she is experiencing something that no one else around is able to notice.
One interesting thing to consider in this painting is the curved lines in the sky and in the water because such lines seem to reflect the enormous anxiety that the subject has. Also, the mixture of warm colors in

On one side, the smoothness of the brush strokes on the dock may suggest that the subject is stepping on something secure but on the other side, the curved lines and rough brush strokes in the water may symbolize the turbulence in the mind of the subject, so it can be possible that the individual is trapped by fears and emotions that he or she cannot control nor even stop. In addition, one of the other facts that amaze me about this image is the accuracy of how the curved lines creates in the water a sense of an abysm. Even staring at it is pretty frightening. Also, the accuracy of the brush strokes that the artist uses to create this scary view surprises me in great manner because the white brush strokes is what gives to the painting a great sense of how powerful the ocean is. However, it is pretty curious that he also has used white to create calmness on the water as it is seen behind the turbulent and unstable

I chose The Scream by Edvard Munch because I like how he used mostly warm colours to portray a tragic incident. The reddish sky in the background is the artist's memory of the effects of the powerful volcanic eruption of Krakatoa, which deeply tinted sunset skies red in parts of the Western hemisphere for months, about a decade before he painted The Scream. The elements such as line, color, light and shadow, form, and balance are to create the effects of horror, anxiety and endless other unpleasant emotions that the people who look at it may experience while interpreting this painting, just like how I felt when I first saw it.…

The biggest problems in America that I’ll briefly go over are drug addiction, depression, and education. Education is the stronghold to solving predicaments within a community as well as worldwide. As different as every person can be we are still one thing, a human. A special thing about us is that we can share a bond, an emotion, and I believe we’ve become cultural psychopaths who don’t empathize with people who are different from us. Disclaimer:…

“The painter should paint not only what he has in front of him, but also what he sees inside himself.” (Caspar David Friedrich) Created in the year of 1818 during the romantic period we had an artist of the name Caspar David Friedrich. His most famous work was the Wanderer above the Sea of Fog. Not only is it a beautiful landscape, he drew himself looking at fog and water. It includes self-expression, beauty and great detail.…

The artwork that I have chosen to review is titled Butterfly String, painted in the year 1977 by abstract painter Leonard Contino, which is currently being exhibited among other modern pieces at the Dallas Museum of Art. Although abstract art may be at the bottom of my list when it comes to my preferred style of painting, when encountering artwork that intentionally removes any and all recognizable figures and themes from its composition I feel obligated to analyze the work on a deeper level in order to extract an idea or meaning that closely reflects what the artist was attempting to communicate to the viewer. Within this painting, Contino has designed a composition of various hard-edged geometrical shapes that overlap each other and are purposefully placed in the center of the canvas, resolved with a palette comprised of mostly muted secondary colors. The arrangement of these shapes seems to suggest that the artist meant to create the illusion of an object floating…

Munch – The scream One of the best oeuvres ever created by humans, “The scream” is widely considered as an epitome of juxtaposition of its creator’s mastery in choosing colors and dexterity in conveying the painter’s emotional state. Although painted numerous times by the same author, every example of the painting holds some kind of genuine feeling, unique to that composition. The picture can be theoretically spilt into two parts: the background and the face. The blazing scarlet sky, the blue placid sea and the seemingly infinite road merge in the horizon, creating an astonishing background for the dismal figure.…

This composition appears confusing and chaotic and is not easy to decipher and because of the overlapping and scattered images of humans, animals, and figures in a compressed space makes it difficult to distinguish their boundaries. The painting that is a palette of black, white, gray and some hue yellow. Throughout the painting all of the images are serrated and fragmented with sharp angular lines and movements that appear jumbled together creating a feeling of intense panic, horror, violence, and trepidation. Starting from the left side of this painting there is what appears to be a women screaming with her head hyperextended back in an exaggerated way holding a limp or dead child with a large bull head directly over top of her head. The it appears that the bull’s body is black with a white tail.…

Though there is no mention to the artist I believe that he or she were creating this piece to bring some kind of joy or happiness, a sense of peace for one to just be able to empty the mind and look at the beautiful side of things. In this piece I will attempt to step into the shoes of the artist by looking at the elements used to create this artwork. The image it-self is not a painting though at first observation I believed it to…

Gregory Gillespie’s Self-Portrait (Torso), 1975, depicts Gillespie’s aging body and the physical characteristics, including the flaws and flesh of the body. The work of art depicts a realistic portrayal of the artist’s interpretation of himself. This portrait relates to the human condition overall, with the emotions that are conveyed, the stage of life that it depicts, how this work of art and my analysis of it relates to my experience as a human being. The emotions that are conveyed by the person in the work of art is that the he appears to be suffering.…

The lines in this painting play very big role in the emotion of the piece. In the sky and to the right side of the painting the wavy and sweeping strokes help to draw you threw the painting as well as giving me a sense of uneasiness. As said in our book Understanding Visual Artforms in Our World lines can do many things such as conveying emotion and creating movement in the artwork itself. The curvy lines are also suppose to represent in a way the absorption of the individual into nature itself ("MOST POPULAR PAINTINGS."). I believe this is one of the bigger points Edvard was focusing on conveying in this particular painting.…

When I look at this piece of art I get a sense of tension going through me because I want to save the human that is in the water. One man with the stick and the black coat looks like he’s going to try and kill the shark, while two other males are trying to save the human that’s in the water. There is one male that is trying to hold the males in the boat that are reaching for the human in the water. The African American male looks concerned but can’t do much. The male in the blue sitting doesn’t show much emotion, whereas the other two that are sitting towards the middle of the boat are in fear and the man that’s holding them is trying to calm…

This piece of artwork caught my attention right away when I saw it, because by looking at it, I feel very relaxed and peaceful. There are many color in this artwork, but blue is the color that stand out the most. It represents the sea water, the sky, and the meaning of peace/ freedom. If you take a look close to the sea water, you can tell the water is very clear and fresh. Above the water is little waves to make it seem like its moving.…

Also, the mixture of warm colors on top combined with primary and secondary colors give the painting a delicate effect particularly the three green brush strokes as it adds even more mystery to the painting. Furthermore, the diagonal lines that shape the floor and the barriers of the bridge and the curved lines on the water make a combination of energy and endlessness at the same time because the side of where the scared looking person is, looks completely different from where the water, which is what perhaps reflects the degree of anxiety that the scared looking person was suffering in that particular…
