There are so many NBA players that were born in the state of Illinois, but somebody who really stood out was the star center of the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis. Anthony Marshon Davis Jr was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 11, 1993. Davis had two sisters, one being his twin and the other being the elder of both of them. Even though Davis was born in Chicago, he lived in a town a little outside the city in a neighborhood called Englewood with his two sisters. Being a young kid in Chicago, he fell in love with the sport of basketball at a very young age. Sadly, through his Junior high school years, there wasn't even a gymnasium with a basketball hoop in the school he attended. Right as the two got into the playoffs, they started winning their games and made it to the NBA Finals. They met in the finals with the Miami Heat with the stars Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo. With one of the most entertaining finals ever, the Lakers won it all and became NBA Champions! Anthony Davis won his first NBA championship and Lebron had a lot to say about him, saying “As James told Sports Illustrated in 2020, in order for us to become the team we want to become, it starts and ends with me and Davis. From the very first practice, he held me accountable.” (Frommer). This really helped the confidence of Davis by him being very useful to the Lakers in the later years. Unfortunately, Davis was injured, and it was hard for him to recover from it and had many more injuries to come. These injuries were absolutely scary, especially for his own career. Anthony Davis is having a good season with the Lakers and has had no injuries so far. Frommer -.
