It is important that everyone go through the Erikson’s eight stages of life. The reason being is that two forces will push a person from stage to stage which are known as biological maturation and social expectations (Crain, 2011). The person will move from one stage to the next as a result of these forces whether they have mastered the previous stage or not. A prime example is a girl experiencing difficulty at the industry stage because she is not prepared for the identity crisis (Crain, 2011). She may experience body changes due to maturational changes and have issues with dating or career choices which are social pressures. Although a person will experience these issues, he or she will be pushed to face the crisis. Regardless of the outcome, maturational and social forces require the child to face the issues with each of Erikson’s stages (Crain, 2011). It is known that the social forces are more defined than maturational forces in adult years.
