It's got intriguing characters and a storyline that leaves the reader reading for hours. I read the book for 8 hours straight, not wanting to stop. I cried for a couple of hours of Werner's death because he's such a loving character. The characters are elementary to connect to and the current storyline is extremely tragic and sad but it shows the endurance of both of these characters while adding perspectives from both sides of the war. My favorite part of this novel is when Werner finally meets Marie-Laurie. Werner had previously been tracking down foreign radios and killing the owner of the radio since it is illegal to own a radio. One night he hears Marie-Laure's voice on the radio reading her braille copy of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea to her great uncle. Werner goes to Saint-Malo to listen to the radio. His first encounter with her is on the streets of Saint-Malo as she goes to get bread. This is also Marie-Laure’s encounter with Von Rupel shortly after. Werner's second encounter is when she tracks down her house and finds the man in her house. Von Rupel, the man in Marie-Laure’s House, was tracking down a “cursed” diamond, The Sea of Flames, said to protect the person in possession of the stone but give
