The Age of Enlightenment manifested towards the end of the Renaissance period around 1650 and propelled the movement from the Medieval Age to an Age of Reason in Europe and the Western world. The Enlightenment was a time in which challenging the church was not considered heresy but rather appraised as productive curiosity. The most prominent aspect since the commencement of the Enlightenment period was the centralization of the scientific method during the Scientific Revolution. Likewise, the formerly rejected Copernican and Galilean approaches to the cosmos of a heliocentric solar system was well underway to gaining acceptance. The society of the Enlightenment era escaped from fears of separation of the church and state and its potential …show more content…
During his childhood, he was vulnerable to illness and spent a significant amount of time in the shadows and care of his maternal grandfather as he grew up in absence his parents for the majority of his life. Consequently, his father did not support his schooling to a great extent after Kepler completed primary schooling in Maulbronn, he preferred that his son lend a hand in the family business of innkeeping. Despite the adversities, the assistance of his teachers and his grandfather fostered great interest for education in Kepler which led him to earning a scholarship to the University of Tubingen. Thus , Kepler was able to pursue his career as a Lutheran minister in 1587. (“Johannes Kepler”). Kepler enrolled in science classes such as mathematics and astronomy along with his religious studies classes. Michael Mastlin, Kepler’s astronomy professor, was one of the few professors who accepted the Copernican view of the solar system (Field). Therefore, Johannes’s understanding of the distant planets encompassed the heliocentric approach of solar system. Kepler’s profound intellect and unrelenting drive for education earned him great respect in the community. As a result, he received a teaching job at a city school in Graz, Austria as a mathematics and as an astronomy teacher at an age of 23 (“Johannes
