Abstract In my research, I learned that the statistics on the percentage of children with ADHD varies significantly depending on who is conducting the study. However, all of these statistics show an increase of children with ADHD. I learned that ADHD symptoms can be confused with other disorders, this is one of the reasons why children have been diagnosed with ADHD. Furthermore, in my research, I found that medication is being overused in children with ADHD. Parents, teachers, and mental health professionals need to learn more about how to help children with ADHD in addition to using medication.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is very common in children these days. According to recent surveys in the Journal of the American Academic of children & adolescent psychiatric (2015), (as cited in cdc, 2015) ?show that approximately 11% of children 4-17 years of age (6.4 million) have been diagnosed with ADHD as of 2011.? (cdc, 2015). In my research, I found that the percentage of children with ADHD varies on depending who is doing the study. For instead, according to the American Psychiatric Association ?states in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) that 5% of children have ADHD (2013).
