Construct and Support an Argument Paper

In this paper, I will outline the three main reasons why I choose to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA). Although there are multiple benefits to acquiring an MBA, the three most important to me include fulfilling a lifetime personal goal, balancing the needs between my internal and external career, and maintaining my employability skills throughout my career. |a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. So now, 10 years after completing my undergraduate degree, I am pursing my long-term |
|personal goal of earning a graduate degree along the path of self-actualization. |
|The next force driving my decision to earn an MBA relates to a compelling need to control my internal career. “The internal career has |
|been defined as a person’s own subjective idea about work and life, and his or her role within it” (Schein & Van Maanen, 1977, p. 30). |
|Research has evaluated the relationship between internal and external definitions of career success and identified an increasing trend |
|among MBA graduates to define career success though internal measures such as increased autonomy, work life balance, and opportunity for |
|new learning (Hay & Hodgkinson, 2006). I believe success is a relative term defined differently by each person. Personally, I directly |
|relate career success with personal success, and believe the two are deeply interconnected. However, by way of life’s lessons, I no longer |
|define professional success with traditional measures such as salary, title, authority, and acceptance of others. I subscribe to the idea |
