Throughout the book Parson, Winston’s neighbor who has two children, talks a lot about his daughter who likes to spy on not just them but strangers. Later on in the book Parson is locked away for doing thoughtcrime. On page 233, Parson talks about his daughter hearing him in his sleep reciting “Down with Big Brother.” over and over again.
The next morning his daughter turned to the thought police and he was taken away. In the middle of page 267, O’Brien has admitted that the party wants to cut all ties between mother and child, man and man, man and woman. To break all trust between them so they could focus on their duty to Big Brother.
