Compare/Contrast the characteristics of the Ren man and Ren Woman
The Ren man and woman are similar in some ways. they are both expected to be charming and well versed in the classics. Men are expected to be bold and women are expected to be delicate and soft. Men are to be involved in politics and make a name for themselves. Women are not to seek fame or political standing. Men are to be good swordsmen, riders, and wrestler. Men are to be able to write poetry, play and make music, dance, and create art. Women are meant to inspire art but not create it.
Describe evidnce of humanism in Renaissance art
There are lots of evidence of humanism in Renaissance art. Art in the Renaissance focuses more on the indivual and does not focus on religious themes as much. One example of this is the birth of Venus by Botticelli. This painting celebrates the woman and shows all of the great things God can do without having a strictly religious theme. Another example is the David by Donatello. It is a sculpture of a nude male, which celebrates the male body. Sculptures like this was common in the Renaissance. A final example is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da vinci which is another example of an individual portrait instead of having tons of people in one picture.
Analuze the goals and message of Christian humanists
Erasmus--- praise the folly.. ,made fun of religious people, merchant, heartsick lovers, etc. thought Christianity should be of the heart, not a set of rules and elaborate ceremonies
St. Thomas More- utopia. ideal society. no war, greed, poverty.. little need for money. ideal world

goal is to reform society and help people see things differently
Compare medieval art and renaissance art
-both have some sort of religious features even though its not main focus of ren ex. pieta
- both try and use the idea of perspective... one through stacking and the other more photographic
- both tried to emphasize a specific person at times-- huge mary as opposed to using shading and position to emphasize specific things
