was a participant in political protests in Boston during the American Revolution. He was one of the oldest survivors of the Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, and American Revolution. Shortly before his death his story was recorded by two men in a book.

-In January 1763, Great Britain's national debt was more than 122 million pounds


-Sugar Act - an attempt to raise revenue in the colonies through a tax on molasses


-Stamp Act - which placed taxes on paper, playing cards, and every legal document created in the colonies


-Quartering Act - The act required colonial assemblies to provide housing, food and drink to British troops stationed in their towns with the purpose of improving living conditions and decreasing the cost to the crown.


-Declaratory Act - used as a justification for the repeal of the Stamp Act and as a face saving action, stated that the colonies are subordinate and dependent on the Imperial Crown and Parliament of Britain


-Townshend Acts - imposed import duties on 72 items including paint, tea, glass and paper. The revenue raised from it was to provide for the salaries of colonial officers and its administration


-Tea Act - granted the East India Company exclusive license to import and distribute tea to the American colonies.


-Intolerable Acts - As retaliation for the Boston Tea Party, Britain imposed the Coercive Acts in 1774.


-Boston Port Acts - closed to the Boston Harbor demanding the residents pay near $1 million of todays money to open it (part of intolerable acts)


-Massachusetts Government Act - gave the royally appointed governor of the province wide ranging powers in response to boston tea party
