The study of the universe; Its beginning and how will it end.

COSMOLOGY

A theory which states that the universe started after a single particle that contains a large amount of energy exploded.

BIG BANG THEORY

He coined the theory which Georges Lamaitre developed.

GEORGE GAMOW

George Lamaitre developed this theory in 1927

BIG BANG THEORY

A theory which states that the universe is moving farther apart. This means that the universe is getting bigger.

OPEN UNIVERSE THEORY

He developed the Open Universe Theory

EDWIN HUBBLE

Explain the Closed Universe Theory.

The theory which states that galaxies of the universe may come together until it finally collide and explode

A light year is equivalent to how many miles?

6 Billion Miles

Edwin Hubble developed the Open Universe theory using what method?

Red Shift

Explain the Steady State Theory.

It is the theory which suggests that their is neither beginning nor ending to the universe. It also states that the matter is created through out the universe at a rate of about 10-10 nucleon per m^3 per year

Who are the two person worked on a theory on 1755 and 1796, respectively ,which is the most accepted argument about how solar system can form?

1755 - Immanuel Kant

1796 - Pierre-Simon de Laplace

Explain the Nebular Hypothesis.

A nebula begins to condense. Most of the mass is in the center, there is turbulence in the outer parts. The slowly spinning nebula started to cool and shrink then became a compact sphere. The sphere began spinning faster and started flinging some matter away that became the planets.

It is the result of the contraction and rotation of the nebula in the Nebular Hypothesis?

Protosun

After sufficient mass and density was achieved in the sun, the temperature rose to one million ºc, resulting to what?

Thermonuclear Fusion

What allows the inner planets to accrue and compact solid matter?

Gravitational forces

What is the reason why the gases (primarily H and He) blown away from the inner planets? Those gases were collected and condensed into the gas giants

Solar Radiation

Explain the Planetesimal Hypothesis.

The surface of the sun was disturbed by the gravity of a passing star. This tore chunks of the gaseous materials from the sun later cooled off into chunks of planetesimals. The planetesimals collided with each other and formed bigger chunks. These were attracted to the sun's gravity and orbited around it which became the planet.

Steady State Theory was proposed by who? on what year?

Hermann Bondi, Thomas Gold and Fred Hoyle in 1928

The Planetisimal Hypothesis was based from the ideas of Conte Georges- Louis Leclerc de Buffon on 1905 by who?

F.R Moulton and Thomas C. Chamberlain

Explain the Tidal Hypothesis

A passing star might have glanced the sun and smashed out a huge amount of cigar shaped solar material, these condensed and turned into planets.

The Tidal Hypothesis was proposed by a physicist named what?

Sir Harold Jeffrys

The Tidal Hypothesis was proposed by a physicist named what?

Sir Harold Jeffrys

Explain the Double Star Hypothesis.

The sun was a part of a binary star system. A 3rd star passed by and disrupted the stellar twins and turned it into a turbulent cloud of gas. The surviving twin became the sun and the pieces of the disrupted star became the planets.

Who is the British Astronomer who proposed the Double Star Hypothesis?

Raymond Lyttleton
