Velocity vs speed

Speed: rate at which object moves , v: speed and direction

S= d/t = unit of m/s. V= 10 m/s , due east

Acceleration

Any change in velocity. Incl. Speed or direction

Momentum

Mass x velocity. Net force changes momentum ( acceleration / velocity )

Angular momentum

Rotational momentum of a spinning or orbiting object

Mass x velocity x distance from center of motion

First Newton law

Objects in motion stays in motion unless acted upon

Law of inertia

Second Newton law

F= ma , a= F/m

Force = mass x accel. , force = rate of change in momentum

Third Newton law

To every action force there's an equal an opposite reaction force

Newton redrive Kepler laws (first)

Orbits can be circles , ellipses, parabolas, or hyperbolas

Newton redrive Kepler laws (second)

No change, but Newton was able to show that the reason planets speed up and slow down in their orbit is conservation of angular momentum

Conservation of energy

Newton redrive Kepler laws ( third)

P^2 = 4(pie)^2 a^3/ G (M+m)

Newton law of gravity

F= g (m xM) / d squared

Tides

· Diff. In moon's gravity on parts of the earth's surface at varying distance from the moon.

·Sun affects tides

·Earth also raises tidal bulges on the moon , shows down moon ( 1 roation per orbit)

Synchronous rotation

Weightlessness

Due to freefalling

Conservation of momentum

Cannot change unless an external force is acting on it.

Interesting objects exchange momentum through equal and opposite forces

Types of energy

Kinetic -motion. Radiative - light. Potential - stored.

Cannot be created or destroyed
