Religion was the source of sociology, and what affected people, rather than economics, which is what Marx claimed

Sociology and protestantism

Weber claimed that religion is what dictated social forces, determined suicide rates, etc., and that capitalism was more likely to flourish in protestant countries, as people were driven to be independent, and wealth was seen as a sign that God was on their side

Weber's value in sociological research

Claimed that values (what one deems important) should not have an influence on sociological research, but should instead be seen with objectivity (value neutrality)
