the founding of Pennsylvania

William Penn wanted to start colony where all christians could live together in peace. In north america, he thought there might be a place "for such a holy experiment."king charles owed money to the Penn family so he gave him land. he named is Pennsylvania which means Penn woods.

Significance of Virginias government

colonists wanted to have a voice in laws of the colony. In 1619, colonists created the first legislature inn the colonies. the legislature was called house of burgesses. Only white men who owned property and planters were allowed to vote or be elected.

Middle colonies

colonists were german,dutch, scots-irish, scan-divinian, and english. some were jews or catholics. Great climate and soil. Men and women spent long hours working. Boys planted and harvests crops. Girls cooked,sewed, and did housework. Raised cows and pigs. They grew vegetable, fruits. Grew wheat,corn,barley. Called "breadbasket." Agriculture was so good. Farmers sold surplus to earn money.

He flew a kite in a lightning storm to show that lightning was a form of electricity. He invented a clock, a wood stove, others to. helped start Philadelphia's first public library, fire department, and hospital.

In Pennslyvania, Penn created laws that allowed colonists to voice their opinions and worship freely. Penn also let colonists elect representatives too an assembly, as colonists did in New York and New Jersey. Penn treated American Indians with respect. He tried to understand their culture and wanted colonists to live with them as equals. Penn's fairness help Pennsylvania 's colonists and indians live together for many years.

He also planned colonists first large city, Philadelphia. Philadelphia became a center of trade. Soon it was the largest city in all of the colonies.

Agriculture as a main focus of the economy in the south

In the southern colonies most plantation workers were indentured servants or enslaved africans. Many plantation owners, or planters became wealthy by growing and selling cash crops such as tobacco and rice. As large plantations filled the tidewater new colonists had to settle in the backcountry father from the ocean to get more farmland.

The benefits of being able to speak is they can speak their mind, they can stand up for themselves, and it gives you rights . The cost of being able to speak their mind is they can say things like swears, you can hurt others, you can spread problems among others.
