1) Cortical disruption
2) Trabeculae disruption
3) Soft tissue swelling
4) Fat pad displacement
5) Hemarthrosis or lipohemarthrosis (fluid/fat level)
Signs of septic arthritis
Widening then narrowing joint space; periarticular osteopenia
Signs of tumors (usually metastases) and multiple myeloma
Usually lytic; prostate is blastic; breast is mixed
Metastases have a fuzzy "moth-eaten" margins
Mutiple myeloma usually have sharp, non-sclerotic borders (punched out)
Signs of osteosarcoma
Soft tissue mass, cortical disruption, tumor mass, periosteal reaction (lifted off or sunburst appearance if aggressive)
