Major Depressive Disorder
Five (or more) of the following symptoms have been present during the same 2-week period and represent a change from previous functioning; at least one of the symptoms is either (1) depressed mood or (2) loss of interest or pleasure.
Bereavement
2 months
Adjustment Disorder
The development of emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to an identifiable stressor(s) occurring within 3 months of the onset of the stressor(s) & Do not last longer than 6 months

(however, if stressors are ongoing dx can still qualify)
Acute Stress
The disturbance lasts for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 4 weeks and occurs within 4 weeks of the traumatic event.
PTSD
Duration of the disturbance (symptoms in B, C, and D) is more than one month.
Manic Episode
A distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood, lasting at least 1 week (or any duration if hospitalization is necessary).
Hypomanic Episode
A distinct period of persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood, lasting throughout at least 4 days, that is clearly different from the usual nondepressed mood.
Schizophrenia
Two (or more) of the following, each present for a significant portion of time during a 1-month period (or less if successfully treated):

Continuous signs of the disturbance persist for at least 6 months. This 6-month period must include at least 1 month of symptoms (or less if successfully treated) that meet Criterion A (i.e., active-phase symptoms) and may include periods of prodromal or residual symptoms. During these prodromal or residual periods, the signs of the disturbance may be manifested by only negative symptoms or two or more symptoms listed in Criterion A present in an attenuated form (e.g., odd beliefs, unusual perceptual experiences).
Schizoaffective
Two (or more) of the following symptoms are present for the majority of a one-month period (or a shorter period of time if symptoms improved with treatment)

During the illness, delusions or hallucinations were present for a minimum of two weeks, without major mood symptoms.
Borderline PD
BPD is manifested by a pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image, and affects, and marked impulsivity beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) sx
Brief Psychotic Disorder
psychotic sx present for less than a month and resolve completely. Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least 1 day but less than 1 month, with eventual full return to premorbid level of functioning.
ADHD
Inattention & hyperactivity present for at least 6 months. Some sx cause impairment were present before age 7 years.
Conduct Disorder
presence of three (or more) of the following criteria in the past 12 months, with at least one criterion present in the past 6 months. If the individual is age 18 years or older, criteria are not met for Antisocial Personality Disorder.
Antisocial PD
There is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15 years, Evidence of conduct DIsorder before age 15, Individual is at least 18 years old
OCD
sx are "time consuming"
Specific Phobia
No timeframe for adults. In individuals under the age of 18 years the duration is at least 6 months.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehensive expectation), occurring more days than not for at least 6 months
Social Phobia
In adults, no timeframe. In individuals under age 18 years, the duration is at least 6 months.
Panic Disorder
recurrent worry/behavior change as result of panic attack that last at least a month
Encopresis
Chronological age is at least 4 years (or equivalent developmental level). One event per month for at least 3 months
Enuresis
The behavior is clinically significant as manifested by either a frequency of twice a week for at least 3 consecutive months or impairment in fx. Chronological age is at least 5 years (or equivalent developmental level).
Pica
Persistent eating of nonnutritive substances for a period of at least 1 month.
Tourette's
The tics occur many times a day (usually in bouts) nearly every day or intermittently throughout a period of more than 1 year, and during this period there was never a tic-free period of more than 3 consecutive months.

C. The onset is before age 18 years.
Dementia Alzheimer's
The course is characterized by gradual onset and continuing cognitive decline.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least 6 months. Criteria not met for conduct D/O or Antisocial PD
Dysthymia
Depressed mood for most of the day, for more days than not for at least 2 years.

Note:In children and adolescents, mood can be irritable and duration must be at least 1 year.

the person has never been without the symptoms in Criteria A and B for more than 2 months at a time
Autism
sx onset prior to age 3 years:
Hypochondriasis
The duration of the disturbance is at least 6 months.
Somatization Disorder
A history of many physical complaints beginning before age 30 years that occur over a period of several years
Undifferentiated Somatoform Disorder
The duration of the disturbance is at least 6 months.
