S.117 P.A.C.E.

Power of a constable to use reasonable force in the exercise of his duty when carrying out other P.A.C.E powers such as searches

Common Law-If you have an honestly held belief that you or another are in imminent danger then you may use such force as is reasonable and necessary to avert that danger.


S.3 Criminal Law Act 1967-may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime or in effecting assisting in the lawful apprehension of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large.


S.76 (7) Criminal Justice and Inmigration Act 2008
