Bethanechol (Urecholine)
Used to treat urinary retention by strengthening the ability of the muscles to contract. Cholinergic Drug.
Atropine Sulfate
Anticholinergic drug. Blocks muscarinic effects. Preoperatively lowers secretions, TX for bradycardia (blocks vagus nerve and raises HR and BP). (Watch out for paradoxical bradycardia) .5mg-2mg IV
Dopamine (Intropin)
Causes vasodilation of the renal and mesenteric arteries. Increases renal blood flow. (Low Dose 2) Beta1 stimulation (Med Dose 5) High doses 10 affects Alpha (Vasoconstriction)
Norepinephrine (Levophed)
Stimulates alpha receptors causing vasoconstriction and a reduced blood flow through the kidney and other visceral organs. Used to restore blood pressure (IV)
Epinephrine (Adrenalin)
stimulates alpha and beta receptors. Stimulates the heart, force of cxn and CO, smooth muscle of lung produces bronchodilation. Cardiac Arrest or Anaphylaxic situation. or Bronchial asthma.
Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed)
OTC drug. for congestion, bronchodialation.
Dobutamine (Dobutrex)
Beta activity cardia stimulant +chronotropic + inotropic for low CO and low SV
Albuterol (Proventil)
given to asthma, COPD, Bronchitis unerlying resp. problems. Beta2 agonist
Metaproterenol (Alupent)
given to asthma, COPD, Bronchitis unerlying resp. problems. Beta2 agonist
Propranolol (Inderal)
For hypertension, angina pectoris, MI dysrrythmias, migraines - non-selective
Nadolol (Corgard)
for hypertension, angina pectoris - non-selective beta blocker
Atenolol (Tenormin)
for Hypertension, angina pectoris, MI (Beta1 specific)
