Carbemazepine (Tegretol)
For partial simple of complex seizures OR Tonic Clonic Sezures
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
oldest non-sedating drug used in txt of seizures (Partial simple or complex or tonic-clonic) Interferes with sodium ion movement across cell membrane. Keeps sodium channels inactive which decreases the ability of the neurons to fire at a high frequency.
Valproic Acid (Depakene)
Works on all types of seizures. Increases bioavailability of NT GABA.
