Ostheoporosis

Porous bone; fragile bones due to loss of bone density

Osteomalacia

Bones abnormally soft due to a deficiency of calcium and phosphorus in the blood. Results in fractures and noticeable deformities of the weight bearing bones. Rickets in children

Osteomyelitis

Localized infection of the bone or the bone marrow resulting from bacterial infection that had spread to bone tissue through blood

Ewing's sarcoma

Malignant tumor of the bones common to young adults particularly adolescent boys

Osteogenic sarcoma (osteosarcoma )

Malignant tumor arising from the bone. Common sites distal femur the proximal finish and the proximal humerus

Osteochondroma

Most common benign tumor. Most frequent in femur and tibia

Paget's disease

A nonmetabolic bone disease;excessive bone dostruction and unorganized bone formation by osteoblasts. Bone weak and prone to fractures . Mosaic pattern of the bone

Spinal stenosis

Narrowing of vertebrae canal, nerve root canals or intervertebral foramini of the lumbar spinal canal. Causes pressure on the nerve roots prior to their exit from the foramini

Talipes equinovarus; clubfoot

Infants foot fixed in plantar flexion and deviates medially and the heel in elevated position

Kyphosis

Abnormal curvature of the spine . Outward ; humpback or hunchback

Lordosis

Abnormal inward curvature ; swayback

Scoliosis

Abnormal lateral curvature

Fracture

Broken bone. Can be closed, open, complete, greenstick, compression, impacted, comminuted,Colle's,, hairline, pathological or occult

Closed fractire

Simple fracture; break in a bone but no open wound in the skin

Open fracture; compound fracture

Break in a bone as well as open would in the skin

Complete fracture

Extends through in tire thickness of the bone

Incomplete fracture ; greenstick fracture

Doesn't extend through entire thickness of the bone; one side is broken and one side is bent

A compression ftactire

Causes by bony surfaces brid forces against each other. Often associated with osteoporosis

An impacted fracture

Occurs when direst force causes a bone to break forcing the broken end of the smaller bone into the broken end of the larger bone

A comminuted fracture

Occurs when the force is so great that it splinters or crushes a segment of the bone

A Colle's fracture

Occurs at the lower end of radius within 1 inch of connecting to the wrist bones

A hairline fracture ; stress fracture

Minor fracture in which the bone stays in a perfect alignment

A pathological fracture

Occurs when a bone affected by preexisting disease breaks with small force that wouldn't break a normal bone

An occult fracture

Fracture that cannon be detected by X-ray until several weeks after the injury. Most likely to occur in the ribs, tibia, metatarsals or navicular bones
