Goes both ways, media is simply the medium that carries the message from one part to another.

What is mediatization?

The instituionalization of media logic in all public spheres. Media integrates with all institutions but is also an institution. Watches over others, but who controls the media? Media logic is interferring in all social spheres and changing the local logic, making media logic the one true way to perceive the world.

What does mediatization of politics mean?

Politicians adapt to the media logic since they rely on the media to spread their messages. The media logic overshadows other frameworks.

What is self-mediatization?

Giving politics a media friendly packaging. Three phases:


Production - self-representation - media representation

What is a spindoctor?

Profesionalizes in adapting politics according to the media logic. Can give events a certain spin that benefits the transmittor of the message.

Policy aspect: Creation of politics. Debate, vote etc.

Politics aspect: The self-representation. Going public.
