Ober test
- Demonstrates tight IT band or variety of neurological disorders such as polio and meningomyelocele
- Patient lays on side, knee flexed, hip in slight extension (allows IT band to pass behind greater trochanter)

- Posterolateral superior surface of trochanter
- Indication - trochanteric bursitis
- Pt prone, hip extended, knee extended, abducted, externally rotated, brace with knee
Lateral trochanter
- Lateral surface of greater trochanter, 12-13 cm distal
- Trochanteric bursitis or IT band dysfunction
- Pt prone, abducted and externally rotated
Gluteus medius
- 1 cm below iliac crest in an arc 3-4 cm long
- Pt prone, leg extended and internally rotated

- Belly of piriformis muscle
- Pt. prone, flexed, abducted, externally rotated
