Genesis 1

God creates the earth and commands man, created in his image, to fill it.

Genesis 2

God rests, things are created spiritually first, Adam and Eve are married, two trees are forbidden.

Genesis 3

Lucifer deceives Adam & Eve who are cast out, roles are given to man and woman.

Genesis 4

Cain and Abel are born, Cain kills Abel out of jealousy and is marked.

Genesis 5

Adam's genealogy down to Noah is given.

Genesis 6

Men have become very evil, God tells Noah to build an ark because he will send a flood.

Genesis 7

Noah's family and animals enter the ark, everything else is destroyed.

Genesis 8

The flood ends, a dove returns with an olive branch, everyone exits the ark.

Genesis 9

Noah's family commanded to fill the earth, death penalty given for murder, Canaan is cursed.

Genesis 10

The genealogy of Noah's children is given.

Genesis 11

Tower of Babel. Later, Teran and his family, including Abram and Lot, move to Haran.

Genesis 12

Abram receives his covenant, he and Lot move to Canaan, then Egypt due to famine and is tested by Pharaoh.

Abram parts ways with Lot, receives more promises, settles in Hebron.

Genesis 14

Lot is captured in war, rescued by Abram who refuses any spoils and communes with Melchizedek.

Genesis 15

Abram is again promised many descendants, his future family's four generations of captivity in Egypt is revealed.

Genesis 16

Sarai gives Hagar to Abram. Hagar runs away, then returns on an angel's advice, and bears Ishmael.

Genesis 17

Abram becomes Abraham, Sarai becomes Sarah. The full covenant is described, circumcision is established, and Isaac's future birth is revealed.

Genesis 18

Three holy men come to Abraham and promise Sarah a son. Abraham discusses Sodom & Gomorrah's destruction with the Lord.

Genesis 19

Two holy men visit Lot, are harrassed by citizens of Sodom & Gomorrah, then warn Lot to leave the city. The city and Lot's wife are destroyed, and Lot's daughters have his children.

Genesis 20

A gentile king, Abimelech, takes Sarah, is cursed, then blessed by the Lord when Abraham prays for him after Sarah's return.

Genesis 21

Sarah has Isaac, casts out Hagar and Ishmael who are then saved by the Lord.

Genesis 22

Abraham is commanded to sacrifice Isaac, they both accept, but are then freed from the command.

Genesis 23

Sarah dies and is buried.

Genesis 24

Isaac is commanded not to marry a Canaanite. Abraham's servant is guided to find Rebekah as a wife for Isaac.

Genesis 25

Abraham remarries, has children, and dies. Rebekah has Jacob and Esau whose destinies are revealed to her. Esau sells his birthright to Jacob.

Genesis 26

Isaac receives promises from the Lord and is prospered. Esau marries Hittite women and dismays his parents.

Genesis 27

Rebekah helps Jacob get blessings. Esau hates Jacob and plans to kill him. Rebekah is worried Jacob will marry a gentile.

Genesis 28

Isaac forbids Jacob to marry a gentile and blesses him, securing his fathers' blessings.

Genesis 29

Jacob meets Rachel at the well. He works 7 years for Laban for her, is tricked into marrying her sister Leah, then works another 7 years for her.

Genesis 30

Jacob also marries Bilhah and Zilpah. All his wives have children while he works for his father-in-law.

Genesis 31

The Lord tells Jacob to go back to Canaan. He sneaks away, is caught, resolves things peacefully with his father-in-law.

Genesis 32

Jacob wrestles with an angel, becomes Israel, and sees God face-to-face.

Genesis 33

Jacob reconciles with Esau and settles in Canaan.

Genesis 34

A gentile defiles Dinah. Her brothers trick his family into being circumcised, then kill them. Jacob disapproves.

Genesis 35

Jacob's covenant is renewed. Rachel dies in childbirth having Benjamin. Reuben sleeps with his father's wife. Isaac dies.

Genesis 36

Descendants of Esau are listed.

Genesis 37

Jacob favors Joseph, his brothers hate him and sell him into Egypt.

Genesis 38

Judah has sons by a gentile woman, cheats their widowed wives, gets duped into sleeping with one of them.

Genesis 39

Joseph becomes ruler of Potipher's house, refuses his wife's advances, gets thrown in jail, becomes ruler of jail.

Genesis 40

Joseph interprets a butler and baker's dreams, but the butler doesn't tell Pharaoh.

Genesis 41

Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dream, becomes ruler of Egypt, has Egyptian sons Ephraim and Manasseh.

Genesis 42

Jacob sends sons to buy grain. Joseph imprisons Simeon and tells them to bring Benjamin.

Chapter 43

Jacob's sons convince him to send Benjamin, and they go eat dinner with Joseph.

Chapter 44

Joseph frames his brothers, and Judah offers to sacrifice himself to save Benjamin.

Chapter 45

Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and invites his family to Egypt to live with him.

Chapter 46

The Lord sends Jacob's seventy person family to Egypt.

Chapter 47

Israelites settle in Goshen and Jacob blesses Pharaoh.

Chapter 48

Jacob adopts Ephraim and Manasseh, puts Ephraim first, prophesies Israel's return to Canaan.

Chapter 49

Jacob blesses his sons, dies.

Chapter 50

Jacob is buried in Canaan. Israel multiplies, Joseph prophesies their return to Canaan, dies.
