Muscles

Cardiac Muscle: Involuntary, tubular muscles that are striated. They are found only in the heart. They have one nucleus per cell.

Smooth Muscle: They are non-striated and sheeted muscles that are found in organs like the esophagus. There are only one nucleus per cell.

Skeletal Muscle: They are striated and tube like muscles that have multiple nuclei per cell. They are attached to skeleton via tendons.

Myofilaments

Muscle fibers are made out of myofilaments that are composed of different contractile protein.

Actin: Actin are contractile protein that are found in thin myofilaments.

Myosin: Myosin are contractile protein that are found in thick myofilaments.

Striation: Striation occurs because of the different myofilaments that overlap.

Sarcomere: The space created between Z lines.

Sarcolemma & Muscle Fibers

Sarcolemma is the sheath that wraps muscle fibers in a membrane. Muscle fibers are the individual sheeted muscle cells of skeletal muscles.

Antagonist Muscles

A pair of skeletal muscles that work against each other to make a uniform movement.
