Osmotolerant

Can survive all osmotic pressure.

Halophiles

Salt loving organisms that require salt to live.

Halotolerant

Doesn't require salt but can live with high salt concentration for short period of time.

Saccharophile

Sugar loving and requires high sugar.

ie: Fungi (yeast)

Saccharotolerant

Doesn't require sugar but can survive with it for a short period of time.

Neutrophile

Likes neutral pH

Acidophile

Likes low pH

Alkalophile

Likes high pH

Acidoduric

Can survive in acidic place for short period of time but doesn't thrive.

Psychrophiles

Optimum in cold temps 0-15 degreees C

Mesophile

Optimum in ambeint temp 20-40 degree C. Room temp to body temp

Hyperthermophiles

Optimum in very high temp. 80 degrees C and up

Candinal Temps

Minimum, maximum, optimum

Psychrotroths

Can grow in cold temp but growth is not optimal

Termoduric

Can survive in high temp for short period of time but doesn't thrive.

Aerobes

Requires oxygen

Obligate anaerobes

Must have an anaerobic environment. Can be killed by oxygen.

Microaerophiles

Low oxygen required for survival. Ususally little below surface.

Facultative Anaerobe

Can grow with or without oxygen. If oxygen present, it can use O2 to grow better

Aerotolerant Anaerobe

It can grow with or without oxygen. It will grow equally in either. Never uses oxygen even if present.

Barophile

Thrives on high pressure

Barotolerant

Can survive high pressure for short period of time but doesn't thrive.
