What is light? |
Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that can be seen by our eyes. |
What are the properties of light? |
1. Light always travels in straight lines, and never bends. 2. Light can be reflected. |
What is refraction? |
Refraction is when light travels into a substance of a different density. It slows down as it travels into a higher density, and and speeds up as it travels into a less dense subject. |
What is the law of reflection? |
The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. |
What is a lens? |
A transparent solid that refracts light to focus it to a point in front or behind. |
What is a concave lens? |
A lens shaped )( that diverges light. It creates a virtual image in front of the lens. |
What is a convex lens? |
A lens shapes () that converges light. It creates a real image in front of the lens. |
What is the difference between transparent translucent and opaque? |
1. A transparent substance does not absorb or reflect light, and it allows all light to pass through. 2. A translucent substance allows some light to pass through but not all, creating a detail-less image. 3. Opaque objects all of the light, making a solid object. |
What is total internal reflection? |
When light refracts at an angle that contains the light ray within the object. |
