epidermis
stratified squamous epithelium, avascular
stratum germinativum
deepest layer of the epidermis, constantly dividing into daughter cells

seperates the two parts of the integument, layer of glycoproteins
dermis
dense irregular connective tissue, composed of collagen and elastic fibers

secrete and maintain teh collagen fibers
superficial fascia
consists of loose bundles of collagen and elastic fibers and the site of lipocytes.
deep fascia
below superficial fascia, thin layers of collagen material covering and tightly adherent to underlying muscles. also merges with tendons and ligaments and surrounds bundles of blood vessels and nerves
