It may make it hard for the child to develop self confidence if there is constant emotional tensions at home |

The child may take part in risky behaviour such as smoking, drinking alcohol or taking drugs Children of divorced parents are more likely to experience poverty and underachievement in education |

How does dysfunctional families link to Bandura? |
He explores the impact of role modelling and imitating behaviour. Constant exposure to high levels of family conflict, especially in dysfunctional families, could lead to the child becoming aggressive and displaying bullying behaviour |

What are the different parenting styles? |
Authoritative- parents not overly strict. Children are brought up to respect authority and develop appropriate values Authoritarian- parents have very high expectations, often overwhelmingly their children with strict rules and regulations Permissive- parents make few demands and may be reluctant to implement rules or values |

What affect can each parenting style have on children? |
Authoritative- children are more resilient and conform more easily to the social norms of society Authoritarian- children are often rebellious and may be problematic both in the family home and in wider social settings Permissive- lack a sense of self control as they have no set boundaries or respect for personal space, can also have difficulties in managing relationships |

A lack of education and inadequate role modelling. Some parents lack emotional intelligence and skills required to raise their children to be resilient and prepared for the outside world |
