GPS – Global Positioning Systems |
Define remote sensing |
Remote Sensing – Observing Earth from space.
Define latitude and longitude |
Latitude – Angular distance north or south of the equator ( + indicates North latitude - indicates a Southlatitude)
Longitude – Angular distance East or West of a point on earths surface. |
Define meridians and parallels |
Meridian – A line connecting all points along the same longitude
Parallel – A line connecting all points along the same latitude |
Earth's dimensions: Polar circumference and diameter?
Polar circumference : 40 008km
Polar diameter : 12 714km |
Earth's dimensions: Equatorial circumference and diameter? |
Equatorialcircumference : 40 075km Equatorial diameter : 12 756km |
What latitude are the north and south poles? |
The north and south poles are considered 90 degrees latitude. North or south tells you what hemisphere you're in.
