C6H12O6

What are the 3 main elements in glucose?

What is the speciality of starch and state one adaption which allows this to take place

It is the main storage carbohydrate in plants....it is insoluble

Starch is a ............ of .............

Polymer, glucose

Give a carbohydrate similar to starch which is found in animals

Give 2 places where it is located

In a the liver and muscle

What is its function

Gibe another polymer of glucose

Cellulose

Why are humans unable to digest cellulose

As our gut doesn't produce the enzyme needed to break the cellulose molecule down

Give one compound which cellulose forms

Dietary fibres /roughage

What is the function of dietary fibre

It gives the muscles of the gut something to push the food against as it is moved through the intestine avoiding constipation
