Function of FCC
1. Receiving fire and other emergency calls.

2. Dispatching the appropriate number and type of fire companies.

3. Receiving and directing business calls to the appropriate bureau or office.

4. Conducting periodic tests of communication equipment and maintaining records of streets, hydrants, and other pertinent information for the rapid and accurate dispatching of fire companies.
. The primary function of the FCC shall be to
receive reports of fires and emergencies and to dispatch by radio the appropriate number and type of fire companies as quickly and accurately as possible.
The FCC’s authority begins with
the receipt of the initial emergency call and ends at the completion of the dispatch. Thereafter, its function is to establish and monitor the incident’s communications and provide assistance to OPS personnel.
The FCC’s staffing level
shall be a Captain, one FF III, and four FF IIs. An attempt to maintain a staffing level of no less than one Captain/Acting Captain and three FF IIs shall be made.
In serious fire or extreme emergency conditions, the FCC BC, in consultation with the_____may initiate a recall of off-duty FCC personnel.
