Spanned a 116 years, but only 81 years were spent fighting. A fight on french soil where Edward III and French nobles fought over the french throne. france obtained independence. Joan of Arc is famous for fighting on the french side. Authors instilled patriotism on both sides: Geoffrey Chaucer for england and François Villon for france. |

The Reformation

The movement began as an attempt to reform the Catholic Church. Lead by Martin Luther in Germany Luther translated the Bible into german. Other reformers: Ulrich Zwingli in Switzerland, the anabaptists in switzerland and germany, John Calvin in Geneva, Switzerland and france. The Church of England broke from Catholicism as a result of henry viii's divorce. edward vi adopted Calvinism mary restored Catholicism elizabeth i restored Protestant beliefs. ended with the treaty of westphalia in 1648 |
